Clinical Research of Glutathione on Male Infertility
TITLE/DESIGN
Effects of oral reduced glutathione treatment on semen characteristics of male infertility patients with oligozoospermia: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
RESULT/CONCLUSION
Oral reduced glutathione therapy demonstrated a statistically significant positive effect on total sperm count and Absolute total motile sperms, but no Significant effect on percent motility And morphology.
The findings of this study indicate that Oral glutathione therapy could be Potential treatment for oligozoospermia.

Conservative Non hormonal Options for the Treatment of Male Infertility: Antibiotics, Anti-Inflammatory Drugs and Antioxidants.
RESULT/CONCLUSION
Significant levels of glutathione have been demonstrated in the testes, epididymis, seminal fluid and spermatozoa.
Reduced glutathione & its associated enzyme glutathione peroxidase (GPX) provide the main endogenous antioxidant protective mechanism against OS in the epididymis and testes.

Placebo-controlled, double-blind, cross-over trial of glutathione therapy in male infertility.
RESULT/CONCLUSION
Positive effect on total motility, particularly on the percentage of forward motility; Increased velocity of motile sperm. Positive effect on sperm morphology.
Potential therapeutic option for dyspermia associated with unilateral varicocele or germ-free genital tract inflammation.

Intracellular Ca2+ and antioxidant values induced positive effect on fertilization ratio and oocyte quality of granulosa cells in patients undergoing in-vitro fertilization.
RESULT/CONCLUSION
Glutathione (P<0.05), cytosolic Ca and oocyte quality (P<0.001) values were higher in the fertilized group.
High glutathione and cytosolic Ca concentrations in granulosa cells of patient undergoing IVF increase the fertilization potential of oocyte.

Evaluation of antioxidant status and oxidative stress markers in follicular fluid for human in-vitro fertilization outcome.
RESULT/CONCLUSION
Total GSH levels were lower and 8- OHdG levels were higher in patients who had low fertilization rates after lntracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI}
Total GSH and 8-OHdG in human follicular fluid is a potential marker for fertilization in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART}.
